I am a Rio Rancho New Mexico Children Photographer. Somehow I forgot to blog my little Leila turn 7 years old. Not sure where the time has gone in the last year. The Covid Pandemic has hit and past the year mark. Each day at home seems to get longer and more monotonous. Yet the year went by so fast. I can’t believe my daughter is 7 years old and some change at this point.
Covid played the main character in our script for 2020. It felt like we have embraced the good that has come. I know that is hard to hear, especially with so much tragedy. Thankfully to date, we haven’t been hit too close to home yet. Someone so far we have been one of the lucky ones. However, watching from the outside looking in, I can only be thankful for we we do have.
With staying home, working and schooling and living life at home has been hard at times. But it has also been so rewarding. Leila finished her first year of elementary school virtually. Thankfully she was able to grasp the main components of learning at school before she started at home. Leila took the challenges in stride. She is a master at computers and now schools me when I am in a google meet meeting. Ha!
Leila become such an amazing big sister. She is able to watch me do my day job and hustle at this dream of mine. Which I believe will benefit her through the years. I have become so proud of this little woman. My girl is fierce and strong. 🙂

This Albuquerque New Mexico Baby Photographer had the pleasure of photographing Baby Mary again today. Only Baby Mary is no Baby anymore. She is TWO whole years old. I can’t believe it! Last year we met Baby Mary. And her little Lamb for her first birthday cake smash session. Little did we know at the time that this would be the last session I would have in the studio. Before the world was to go on lockdown. She was such a pleasure to meet. As well as smile and giggle with.
She did not disappoint this time around either. This session was outside at Bosque, of course. Where else would we go? When I showed Mary’s mama the sand, or beach as we like to call it, she was sold. There are not many places in Albuquerque. Or New Mexico for that matter, that has beach like sand. Slowly we made our way along the trail hitting each patch of golden light.
As we got closer the beach the wind started to pick up. The weather got colder as the shade started to increase. Poor little Mary was certainly done with the shoot. That didn’t stop us from trying to get the adorable trench coat photo. Mama bought it while traveling though Albuquerque, from Socorro. This gave us even less time to get the cupcake photo at sunset. The wind didn’t allow the balloons to float as great as we would have liked. Poor little Mary was done with the shoot altogether.
I was able to capture the last smile of the day as the sun was going down. Just before she got the cupcake in her hands. By that time it was so chilly for Baby Mary the cupcake didn’t even cheer her up. The shoot was wrapped and we headed back to the cars. Baby Mary was asleep within minutes in her Grandma’s arms. And Mama was ready. She had Mary’s PJ’s for the long drive home from this Albuquerque New Mexico Baby Photographer shoot. Super MOM!

We added new clients to the DRP Family this weekend with this Albuquerque, New Mexico holiday Session. I was so excited to get to photograph these little ones. Only it was their loving Grandma that was in all the photos with them. Mom and Dad let them have the spotlight with the matriarch of the family. Those little ones love their grandma and she surely adores them right back.
Not to mention how easy these little ones were in front of the lens. This Old Town Albuquerque shoot was a tough one. Being that everyone wants to be outside with any sort of warm weather right now, Old Town was packed. Crazy busy and bustling with Holiday Cheer. We made the best of it, waited patiently for each location while other photogs grabbed their images with their clients, all the while the 3 children were happy to be outside and ready to smile when it was time. The sweetest bond between the two sisters was adorable to watch. The littlest one looked up to her sister and had no problem doing anything and everything she asked. I think I’m hiring big sister as my new assistant.
I think the best part of this session was that Grandma had a fun surprise up her sleeve for her grandkids. When it came time they all sported HOLIDAY FUN headbands. The kids loved them and didn’t want to take them off. All I can think is this Grandma must be a blast to have in the family! Such a lovely family all around. My heart was exploding with excitement to photograph them.
All in all I am so happy to meet new friends and can’t wait til Mom and Dad are ready to jump in on the next session. Hoping 2021 is the year we take the Big Family Photo!
I call my last session a Friends and Family Session because the family taking the photos included her closest friend, who pretty much might as well be part of the family. They have been BFFs MUCH longer than I have known them, and they are still inseparable. The kids love her like an aunt, and she adores them right back. Now Mom has a wonderful new lady in her life and they are all just one big happy friends and family!!! My heart was exploding with all the love. Such a blessing to watch this team together.
Even more-so, little brother was the only one out of the three to get upset throughout the whole session. The reason why, you ask? Because he wanted to be holding his brother and sister in the picture. If that is not the sweetest thing, I don’t know what is! The siblings seemed like best friends to me. What more can you ask for? This Friends and Family Session was a great one to have right before Christmas Break.
