One thing I have wanted to do for a long time is design my ideal smash cake, and last week I got to do just that with a FLORAL SMASH CAKE. I am so into simple and pure images and allowing the subject to dominate the image. The simple floral cake with a hint of feminine design was my jam. I got a tiny smash cake from the neighborhood Albertson’s bakery. I asked for the new trendy wedding cake design and she nailed it. It was petite and elegant. I was ecstatic. I decorated the cake with fresh cut flowers from the floral department. Off white with a hint of peach color in them to keep the images airy and fresh. Using a 50mm lens at a 2.0 I was able to blur the fake floral on the backdrop so they wouldn’t overtake the image. I think I will keep doing this going forward. I fell in love. And I also feel I may use fresh florals all around.
Lets not forget the adorable 36″ white balloon I snagged from Walmart. SCORE. The tassle was from there too. This may be a new trend for me as well.
See for yourself. Baby A is looking so sweet for her first birthday photos. Look how much she has grown since the last time we saw her. And that hair. LOVE IT STILL! She didn’t love the session but we know she sure does love cake and having tiny little toes tickled. After a good half hour I won her over with my crazy!
Can’t wait to watch her grow!
