Last week, I did something completely out of my comfort zone, Takeover Tuesday. What is Takeover Tuesday you ask? It is a day in which I took over the instagram stories for a local Albuquerque Moms group, called ABQMOM. I have been following ABQMom since I moved to Rio Rancho, NM. I have lived here about 6 + years and enjoy all of the community content and relationships ABQ has to offer. In fact, I am also listed in the Guide to Pregnancy & Postpartum in the Albuquerque Area.
Here is the initial post announcing I would be taking over. To say that I was nervous is an understatement. I used to pride myself on being able to speak publicly. But I am so out of practice that speaking to a live audience was insane. Behind the lens is where I am most comfortable. I was able to explain my place in this community and my background in Albuquerque. I was worried that my content would fall flat to the viewers. That my daily live would interest no one. What a position to be in right? So vulnerable, yet liberating I think.
I introduced myself and DaniRae Photography as an Albuquerque newborn photographer. It felt so good to finally get my name out to new potential friends and clients. Wish I could say that it made 1000 new followers arrive same day, but I do think little by little it will help me to be seen more. I hope to do it again, if only for the exercise of getting out of my comfort zone. I do look forward to meeting more of my community in the coming year.
